STEP is a two-year program that begins with a six-week summer residential program. STEP offers participants six units of college credit, academic advising, skill development opportunities, and an orientation to the campus.

Newly admitted freshmen participating in the STEP program are REQUIRED to complete the following steps to be considered for summer financial aid:

• Submit your Statement of Intent to Register.
• Submit a Statement of Legal Residence.
• File a 2023-24 FAFSA or a 2023-24 CADAA by June 21, 2024.
• The Department of Education will close the applications on June 30, 2024.
• Complete all 2023-24 verification requirements.
  • Requirements can be viewed in your MyAwards.
• Submit an online Summer Session Application (available in March) to the Office of Undergraduate Education.
• Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units to be considered for financial aid. 
  • Waitlisted units do not count towards the 6-unit requirement for disbursement.

• Once the previous steps are completed, STEP students can expect to be packaged with financial aid by early July 2024.
