  • The Department of Education has announced they will send information from the 2024-25 FAFSA to schools in mid-March. This may result in a delay in financial aid packaging and offers for the 2024-25 academic year. While awaiting your financial aid offer, we encourage you to utilize the UC Davis Financial Aid Estimator to estimate your potential aid.

Award

Winners of the Churchill Scholarship receive the full cost of tuition and fees for 9-12 months of STEM research graduate study at Churchill College, University of Cambridge. Churchill Scholars also receive a living allowance, travel allowance for to/from the United Kingdom, an additional travel award, and visa fee reimbursement. There is also the potential to receive research grant funding, and the potential for married students to receive additional support.

Eligibility

  1. U.S. citizen
  2. Senior at time of application who will graduate in the current academic year, or a student who has graduated from UC Davis within the past 12 months, and has not attained a doctorate
  3. Cumulative GPA of 3.8 or greater
  4. Be pursuing an eligible program of study

Candidate Profile

Applicants should have outstanding academic achievements, especially in their major. Applicants must also have extensive lab research experience in a STEM-related field, or significant independent studies (for mathematics). Students with less than two years of lab research experience by the end of their undergraduate degree will generally not be considered competitive. Applicants will need to submit a proposed program of study based upon previous research and should, therefore, desire to pursue a research-based graduate degree. Applicants should also show a capacity to pursue original, creative work and to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the sciences, engineering, or mathematics. A minimum of four outstanding academic references related to the applicant’s field of research are required.

Applicants should have a desire to study in Cambridge, England, and should also have a clear, articulate sense of what Churchill College stands to gain from their presence at the College.

Campus Procedure

UC Davis may nominate 2 candidates to the national competition.  Candidates must submit the online application along with all supporting documents by the campus deadline.  Candidates must also submit an application for admission to the University of Cambridge, with Churchill College listed as their first choice by the admission deadline.
